Viva Las Vegas!
This place is sureal! So after our last few lines on the blog we headed out down "The Strip" around 5:30pm. All the big hotels loomed in sight and I was rather excited snapping away like a typical tourist :o)
We realised half way down that there was mysterious music playing from an unknown source only to discover this was coming from speakers along the pavement!! Soon after that we also realised why all the lawns looked so pristine...due to it being fake grass!! Nothing is too much to keep this place looking perfect all year round.
So we carried on, seeking the Mandalay Bay Hotel which is the last on the stip in the direction we were heading, taking a peak in the casinos on our way and steering clear of the "merry" people heading towards us with massive glasses full of frozen cocktails in hand! I was really looking forward to our day on the strip when i spotted these :o) Pretty much all the hotels and little bars along the way sold their own versions of these monster glasses (which were in fact plastic...fitting when you look at the faces of some of the women we were passing...miaow lol) so for instance Paris Hotel had an eiffel tower version which easily would have held 2 litres of cocktail or beer and we soon realised that nearly everyone passing us had one of these containers in hand, or a beer, or a margarita. I like this town!
So around 3 hours later and still not quite at the end of the Strip we decided to head back as my feet were killing me in flip-flops...on the way back we watched the Bellagio Fountain display which i loved and the Sirens Pirate display at TI (Treasure Island) which i think Mark enjoyed more seeing as it was a ship full of girls in skimpy pirate outfits!
So after agreeing on a budget of $50 each tomorrow to fritter away (hey we're on a tight budget here!) we hit the sack with our fingers crossed for a big win tomorrow.
