Welcome back!
After a late night last night (we were up WAY past ten - living life on the edge!) we arose around 9:30am and following a hearty breakfast hit the road towards Vegas.
Along the way, about 30 miles prior to Vegas we passed over the Hoover Dam (following a bomb search of the RV by the US authorities). We planned to park up and take a proper look at it but it was so busy (its spring break here apparently) we ended up going past a number of full car parks before realising we were heading away from the dam. Impressively we detoured off the road and came to a halt (quite possibly illegally) directly next to the Hoover Dam Police station! Great move!
We got a few pictures anyway after walking back down the main road and managed to get back to the RV before the local bizzies had sussed our shocking traffic violation!
An hour or so later we had arrived...
Its a LOT bigger than we imagined, we were both expecting a kind of desert road that all of a sudden led you on to the famous Vegas strip. Its not quite like that though as you enter what appears to be a huge city much like LA via the freeway.
So we exited down towards the Las Vegas strip and to one of the KOA (Kamping Of America) camp sites that happens to be situated right off the main strip, quite pricey in comparison to the other places we've stayed at but worth it purely for the location.
Its about 5:00pm here at present and we shall be frequenting the strip for the first time shortly so more to follow...
