Well, it's hardly surprising that I have hit my first hiccup for my NZ travels - by miss reading the flight dates and times. However let's face it ... it could be a million times worse... at least I booked it the day after not before! Just imagine! Ach well it wouldn't be me if something along these lines didn't happen.
So flight activities from Glasgow consisted off;
-avoid stewardess in order to ensure I got on plane with my boots!
-get comfy
-check out the freebies and inflight entertainment system
-get food
-eat food, inhale cup of tea and about two litres of water.
-talk to the lady beside me
-go for a wonder
-adjust seating position
-toilet stop
-wonder what would happen if you fell down the toilet?
-trundle back to seat
-get stuck behind food cart
-wish id eaten more
-chat to the air hostess
-get comfy again
-talk to my buddy, interrupted by more preying
-landed.
It was an incredibly uneventful, mellow and peaceful flight with little noise and stress. WINNER!
So now the worst part of my journey commences, 25 hours in Dubai airport. The good news is my luggage has arrived this far, and I was able to check it straight back in so I don't have to wonder around with too much luggage, however I cannot go through security until 6 hours prior to departure. This leaves me in a limbo where I can't really leave the airport but can't go through security so shops are limited. I purchased a book, snacks and they have Wi-Fi so I haven't had too much of a hard life haha. So I am able to update my blog, chat to friends, internet browse etc, etc.
It's such a bizarre airport, as its almost like a parody from the real world… the workers are un-naturally happy and they ALWAYS appear to be on a break and happy to socialise with one another and fall deep into conversation at the drop of a hat pin. Despite it being a huge airport it's all so relaxed, calm and tranquil. They all talk to one another, and pray, there is no weatherspoons with a group of rowdy middle-aged men going to the football, who are let off the leash by wife's and girlfriends for a singular weekend and intend on making the most of it. It's so tranquil in-fact that I have managed to get a serious amount of snoozing done which I didn't get so much of on the plane. Although my prime sleeping time is frequently being interrupted by preaching over the sound system so as much as I understand regular preying is important to a high percentage of the population in Dubai, I do not feel it is necessary to enforce it upon me so often. Imagine at Heathrow airport on a Sunday they played songs of praise every half hour? You'd have some pretty irate tourists.
Dark outside now, been here for 12hours now. Half way at least?
Ive found a perfect platform for people watching, as it overlooks all 20 baggage carousels. Perfect for people watching.. for the next 12 hours…
Well ill update you upon arrival to newzeland although initially I imagine it will be limited my blogging as It will be dark when I arrive, thus leaving little to inform you about and also I will need to scope out a few things. Fingers crossed its all simples from here on in.
