After packing up the tent we head to the Tennant Creek shops for supplies. It is super windy this morning (and surprisingly cold) which makes packing up a little more difficult. We have enjoyed the luxury of our hotel in Alice Springs and it is hard to say goodbye! The landscape is rocky and hilly as we head out of town. There is long, dry grass which is blowing in the wind. It is so sun bleached that it almost looks like it could be a frost! There are hundreds of termite mounds along the sides of the roads and in the fields. They are probably between 50 - 100 cm high. Hi from Alice Springs. Well we have really lucked on some warm weather here. The 3 days we have been here it has been between 25 and 30. We get all our washing done (the hotel has a great wee self serve laundry with a clothesline). Mark takes Emily for her first time in the pool (which isn't heated!) Mark woke early and couldn't get back to sleep so got up and proceeded to pack up the tent around us and make breakfast for the road. Yep, he's a keeper! So, we hit the road at 8 and drive for 2 hours. In that time we see 2 groups of brumbys, 2 small herds of cattle, a few birds, some grey nomads and several road trains, today we see our first 4 trailer road train - it's crazy how long these vehicles are!
