Hey people
Were back on the road again...but with our new recruit! Holly has arrived! We met her yesterday from Cairns Airport at 8:30am. Bless her! After arriving in Cairns we set off for our hostel which is pretty basic but clean so thats all that matters...although this was a slight culture shock for Holly! Especially because we have to walk through another room to get to ours. Cairns seems very nice....but the weather here is very Iffy. It seems to be a little clearer today but it rained yeaterday...Still not to worry because we have decided to move on from Cairns a little early..in search for better weather.
So today is just a simple chill out day at the Lagoon. Which is a little strange as its a purpose built lagoon on the seafront, with salt water but its treated?!?! Curious! Mind you...here you cannot swim in the sea as its filled with nasties (ie sharks, crocs and stingers) so it makes sense that there is something safe to swim in.
So last night we went to see our local Oz Experience rep to plan our trip so that Holly will definatly get her flight. In the backpackers place we were telling the woman that we needed to be here there etc and basically told her what we wanted to see and told us our options...and to cut a long story short.....we have booked and paid for all activites and accomodation in the next two weeks.
So....Tomorrow AM we leave for Magnetic Island...a beautiful island off of townsville which is filled with Koala's in their natural environment. We are staying in what looks to be a swish hostel on the Island...we will be there for 3 nights...and we are able snorkel and go kayaking. So We will be totally chilled out.
After that we go to Airlie beach where we are going to be going on a sailing trip of the whitsunday islands. The remote little islands on the great barrier reef. We are able to snorkel the great barrier reef which we are all looking forward to. Yes...even Holly! We stay on board the boat overnight and the next day we continue our sailing.
After arriving back to Airlie beach...we get a bus to Kroombit where we stay in a cattle ranch with a mechanical bull and we get to round up sheep etc and sleep in a bunk house! How cool!
After that we are off to rainbow beach which is the jumping point for Frazer island....where...are you ready for this....we are camping for two nights. Oh yes..with the snakes and spider etc. No toilets or showers for three days. We are also hiring a 4WD which we can drive all around the sandy island. This island is famous for being the largest sand island in the world...can't wait to see Holly's face when see has to squat in the bushes for a wee.
After we go back to rainbow beach we stay there again for a bit. Then we make our way to Brisbane.
So the next three weeks are so action packed. we decided that we needed today to relax.
Miss you all very much. By the way....my mobile doesnt seem to pick up the three network out here so i can'not call on my mobile at the moment so relying on the blog to stay in touch at the moment. Will hopefully be able to still blog at magentic island but if not i will forwardly apologise. But will try! If not i will call.
Love you all.
