Today was two tours with Haku Tours. I booked the shanty town and Presbitero Maesto.
Edwin was my first tour guide. I'm dividing this day into more than one blog. The first is with the local market.
Our first stop was at a local market in a middle, lower middle class area.
Unlike the market downtown, Edwin encourage me to take photos without worrying that someone will rob me of my camera.
The people were very warm and welcoming. The first stand was a mini shop. In addition to the fruit and vegetables, the couple also sold soft drinks, paper products and homemade sauces.
We next went to the fish vendor. The various fish was so fresh! The docks were just a few blocks away and they were just off the boat.
The juice vendor was a man who sold juice for 22 years at this spot. Made to order juice is so good! The vendor had lived in the US for awhile and still had his id (which he proudly showed).
I stood back to absord what was going on. Business was brisk The vendors hawking their wares and people shopping with a slight hint of the sea in the air.
The chicken vendor was a couple with what I consider alot of chickens. Edwin stated they will sell out before the day was over. The chickens were plump. There was one open the shows everything. The heart, gizzards, the eggs, everything unlike the states is sold. From the head to the feet.
The couple was proud to show their product. We then saw the broom man. This vendor makes brooms for business and homes.
I was glad to visit another market and wish we had such options in the states
