Right now I'm enjoying dinner on flight 151 heading to Lima. Luck would have it the flight is only half full in coach and no seatmate! Able to enjoy myself without being crowded for seven hours :)!
After checking out of the hotel at noon headed to the airport. With the talks on the news to expect long delays at the airport, I arrived with plenty of time to check in, clear security and head to the gate.
It took less than one hour to arrive at the gate!! I rather wait for the plane than rush to the gate anyhow.
Atlanta international terminal is beautiful. It's so light and airy! After finding my gate and seeing that the aircraft is already parked, I went in search of lunch.
I decided on The Pecan Bistro and had pecan crusted shrimp, fries and a lemonade. It was pricy at $20. But the shrimp were great (I will make this at home).
I then headed to the gate to chill for three hours. Since Memphis don't get the big aircrafts like the 747 or international airlines like Air France or Korean air, it was fun to watch these flights.
Before I know it, the gate agents were announcing boarding! Seat 12A in zone #1!
It was a good smooth flight, esp with two glasses of wine :)!
We landed around 10:20 p.m. One thing that I like is Lima is on the same time as Memphis.
It took two hours to clear customs. For some reason when flying to South America you either arrive in the middle of the night or in the wee hours of the morning. Add the factor of five or six other flights, it was a slight madhouse.
After clearing customs went to the search for my bags and then into another long line. It was just my luck that the red "X" pop up and I had to drag my luggage to be screen again.
I was so praying that the driver was still waiting on me!
When coming into the arrival area, it was a chaos of people. Jet lag passengers, people yell "Taxi Miss!!" and a large crowd of people with plaques with names. Finally find my driver and ready to head out to the hotel.
Now I guess my driver decided to give me a wonderful into to Lima driving. Let's see, a city of over 10 million with no visable speed limit an we just create a lane and jump in front of the next driver. It was like a NASCAR event!
Even with the late hour, there were alot of people out. Kids playing soccer at a light field. The bus stops with people, people walking, etc.
About a hour later, we finally arrive at my hotel for the next three days 3B Barranco Boutique Bed & Breakfast. This B&B in the Barranco district only have 16 rooms with a modernist vibe.
After being buzzed in, getting my room key and escorted to my room 202.
The room was a good size with nice touches. Got ready to shower, remind myself to place the toilet paper in the trash and crash. God it's been a long day and I got a 8 hour walking tour at 8:00 a.m.
Good night!
