It's been a few weeks so I thought I would give you an update on my time in Oz. So what's happened in the last 4 or so weeks. Well people have come and gone, most notably my roommate Clarke from Northern Ireland left after he finished his 3 months agricultural work for his second year visa. He is venturing to Sydney and then jet off to Asia, on which I was able to offer him some hints and tips. He was a popular figure in the hostel and will be missed by many people. In addition we have gained a few people most notably two girls from Mansfield, the only people I have met from Mansfield so far on my journey. Another girl called Christy from Wolverhampton arrived with them too.
In other news work is still on and off, 2 days a week here and there. I recently made the decision to stick it out at the farm I'm at, I would have worked more hours at the other farm but it would take me longer to get my second year visa signed off and I didn't want to be sticking around Innnisfail and bananas longer than I have too. As I have mentioned Innisfail is bananas mad, there is a weekly banana report on the radio and just a few weeks ago there was a Banana packing championships! Unfortunately I couldn't show my skills as my farm didn't enter the competition but a girl from our hostel was asked to compete but she declined the offer.
Other than working, other activities have included watching the entire prison break series in my spare time and also getting very drunk, and I have found a new tipple Jim Beam Whiskey with honey and coke, it's a delight. The latest night of drunken antics witnessed me and my Italian friend Luca with nail varnish on our face and also using duct tape to tape ourselves in various positions, not together I must add. I beat him in a bet staying up two nights out of three later than him at the weekend meaning he had to buy me a cheap Tuesday Domino's Pizza. We have also struggled with getting internet at the hostel, so I formed a cunning plan and went to the local computer shop checked out there display computers and sneaked there internet password. We have to go and sit next to the shop when we want to use it, but it's better than nothing. I also pan to hitch hike to Tully for the day soon to see the giant statue of a big boot which you can climb and also I plan some drastic action to my hair but more on that next time.
That's about all I have to update you with, the way things are I won't be moving from Innisfail until October 1st, but time flies here and it will be time to move on in no time, which will be strange as it strangely feels like home here now I've been here this long.
