We got to Vegas airport and found that due to severe weather in San Fran, our flight would be delayed for an hr and a half. Luckily we had free Wifi so we just surfed the net. The flight to San Fran was horrible, felt like sick was ready to pop out! Sorry for that. Rocky flight. We landed in San Fran and rushed to get some food as the flight to Seattle was leaving in 10 mins! This took around 1hr and a half. We were there around 4.15pm. That was in downtown Seattle. We had to get the bus from the airport into downtown, say 20-30mins, from here we had to get another bus to Ballard Locks. Say 45 mins plus once at Ballard locks we had to walk for over 10mins to the hostel. It was way outta town. Right by the harbour. couldn't see much of it as it was very dark. We got to the hostel and it was boiling, which was great as the weather outside was freezing! We got offered hot tea before checking in. it was a house, converted into a hostel. But it was massive, very homey and cosy. Plus they offered many free amenities - breakfast, noodles, tea, internet, films etc. was fantastic! And the views were amazing.
Our first full day we went for a short stroll to the nearby town, we stopped by some shops that had some really unusual stuff in, followed by a dollar plus store, then the supermarket for some food to last us. Due to the free stuff on offer at the hostel, we didn't really need to buy much as we had basically our breakfast and lunch taken care of. We watched a few movies before getting to bed. Tomorrow we shall explore downtown Seattle.
The journey into Downtown Seattle was pleasnt enough, we got a return for $5 for the both of us - that meant we had to be on the bus by 1.30pm else we'd have to pay another $5. when we arrived into Seattle we tried drying ourselves off in many stores as it was chucking it down! we went to the Pike Market, supposidly a famous farmers market with arts and crafts, plus food etc. Adams words were, "this reminds me of Leicester market" which it kinda did. After here we went to a library, advised to by the owner of the hostel - have no idea why as it was the most boring place ever!! so we just looked around the shops and got back by 2.30pm. we hung around the hostel - got a little bored we played monopoly mario stars. then watched You've got mail:)
Last day in Seattle, my birthday, to be honest i dont think i can count it as my birthday as didnt feel like it one bit. felt a bit strange not knowing anyone. we went for a walk along the marina, which was truely incredible, the sights of the Olympic peaks were just astonishing. we even saw in the distance sea lions trying to get on board some floating thing in the sea. The water was crystal clear and the air around us was chilling, when the sun hit you however you were baked. From here we walked to the beach and sat down and took a moment to look at the view. from here we went back into the small town near our hostel, well about 20 mins walk. We ended up watching the 'Watchmen' new film out today in the US. I personally thought it was a pointless film and wasnt impressed. Adam enjoyed it, due to there being a lot of violence. It was 5.20pm by now and getting dark, we went back to the hostel and had our dinner and hung around ever since. Tomorrow we got to Dallas.
