I shall tell you all about our antics since arriving in Sydney on Monday but mainly xmas eve and christmas day:)
We are staying at 'Westend Backpackers' in Sydney till the 28th Dec 08. Since arriving here we have socialised with our room mates Dilian and Sydney - yes that is her name! on first impressions nice young guys who dont seem like stalkers or wierdos...all this changes and we shall explain in due course. The weather since Monday was not so good, rain on most days slightly warm but not great, always seems like it here lol. We explored the shops here and took in some views of sydney.
Xmas eve we awoke and headed into town - surprisingly not very festive at the minute noone in santa hats well except us two of course:) had to be done! we explored an area called the rocks that had very unique shops and was a very pleasant area of Sydney. Went to Sydneys dance company to find times to attend a class, extrememly annoyed as they had closed till january but got to see some studios which was cool. We wondered around darling harbour, i forget the time we got back to the hostel but the time flew by and it seemed like we'd hardly done anything. We got changed and headed to outside to wait to go to the Shark bar, get this all you had to do was buy a drink and you got a full blown xmas dinner well not as nice but for like $4 was great!! by this time we had become aware that our roommates had attached themselves to us - let me explain we met another couple, got chatting to them really nice peeps, our stalker roommates were stood behind trying to get our attention, they gave the impression that because we shared a room it meant we had to stay with them all the time, they wouldnt give us space!!! we were not able to talk to other people so we made it clear by ignoring and continuing our chats with Alisa and Will - got extrememly drunk to the point of 4 jagerbombs being consumed plus lots of spirits. headed to two other venues before heading back to the hostel.
Xmas day morning - ROUGH!!! well I (ellie) was Adam not so. We managed to stomach some scrambled eggs on toast before getting ready for bondi. We got the train to Bondi junction then a bus to bondi. When we arrived our stalkers were close behind us whilst we waited in a massive que - no joke it took ages to get it and we'd paid for lunch that had to be had before 3 - closing on 2 we got in just after. Our stalkers would not leave us alone but we made our excuses and lost them. 3 djs played hits from 12-10pm it was packed. getting a drink was ridiculous you get squashed and it takes half an hr to get an overly priced drink. we stuck around dancing for the entire day - left the pavillion at 9.30pm sat on some steps on the beach and got the train back at 10.20ish. Was extrememly emotional ringing home as it felt like we shoild be there at xmas time instead of boiling heat dancing away, it felt like just another day...but it was a good experience:)
Boxing day we are going to the harbour bridge as we got some free slips to look in this tower when we did the walk. We will probably look around paddington market and the botanical gardens and tomorrow the zoo:) before heading to Byron Bay Sunday morning
love to all MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
