We left Bondi beach at 9am got a bus into Sydney - Circular Quay for a ferry across to Manly. The ferry itself was big and was pleasantly surprised how quickly the journey was. With our bags in toe we headed to find our Hostel, Luckily a kind Australian man pointed us in the right direction and we found the place. From the outside it looked ok 'Manly Backpackers' is where were at. But inside is another story, for the price were paying it aint pretty, the room is tiny sharing with a young couple from Essex, its like a box room with bunkbeds that when u jump up top u feel its gonna colapse!! The kitchen is massive and is ok nothing fab, there is a tv room where the sofas are pretty rock solid lol hopefully we wont have to spend much time in this place!!!
We dropped of our things and took a look around Manly beach, its not as nice as Manly and the sea is full of crap, the views around it are lovely so thats one bonus and u can hire roller skates and surf boards, which it states on the website for Manly that we get free so a bit of false advertisement there one thinks!! after we did our food shop we headed back to the hostel for lunch as it had already got to that time, we got back out to go do stuff on the beach and the sun was out was about 34 degrees and my word it was too hot, now i love the sun but it was extreme!! Adam went and had a go on a free boogie board that he enjoyed whilst i sunbathed. Got to past 5 and we thought we best go back and stay in from the sun, got back and I got scared from what Lyndsey (our room mate) was telling us about Spiders, not a conversation I enjoy, Adam was bothered but Lyndsey was scared of them too so she was giving us stuff so if we came across owt we know which wont hurt lol. Enough bout that!! Had some dinner which was rank, budget food is panse we cant wait to have some decent grub in May lol we are now watching a film before bed. Not too sure what the weeks plans are but one is to visit Palm beach the home of Home and Away - oh and to go snorkeling in Shelly cove and get the bikes out and roller skates:)
Much love xxxxxxx
Since being in Manly we have tried some snorkeling around Shelley bay, this was interesting as its amazing at the amount of fish in a small area. It was hard grasping how to breath through the mouth piece (well for me anyhow) and the masks we have tended to let water through and into your nose which was complete pain but hey how you get used to it, you also find that the water is freezing which is strange.
We hired out some Roller skates - inline ones yes i have never skated on inlines before so as you see from the photos that Adam unfortunately put on here you will see i have the entire body protection gear on! it was fun for the hr we used them but im not in any rush to get back on them, think Adam would like to.
Adam hired out a surf board but didnt manage to get far out enough to surf due to the waves bashing him, it was a lot of fun to watch as he got onto his knees and fell off, he did however get up a few times but nothing spectacular at the moment, maybe better luck in Byron:)
The hostel we were staying in got worse....a bloody Cockroach came through the airvent, bout crapped myself, Adam squashed and since then didnt wanna be around there as we kept seeing some, surely they should get an exterminater out!!! bloody pests!!!
We went to Palm Beach on Friday - we stayed for approximately 3 hrs, it takes just over an hr to get there and all you see is a beach. there is hardly any shops around. I can see why they use it for a base for Home and Away as it is pretty much disserted therefore no hassles from the public. We saw the Surf Club and the beach they walk up but thats all there is and no cast either:( ar well the water was fun to swim in so enjoyed that before getting on the bus with a wet cossie to Manly!
On saturday we watch a volleyball slam competition with many people played all dressed up, there was elfs, mile high club, pirates, 007 bond girls, Scrubs, smurfs, 118s, DDs (yes girls with DDs), Lads in speedos - we feel they loved themselves for just wearing that and many more groups took part:)
Sunday we hardly did anything but hey ho it was the last day so did a bit of snorkeling where we saw some bluebells or blue bottle fishes not sure of the name but if they touch you their sting is really bad a man told us his daughters got stung and it was that bad he thought they'd been bitten by a shark, so we steered clear of those to the point of not going back in the water.
We now say bye till Sydney and its Christmas week so lets get merry and in the spirit:)
lots of love xxxxx
