We are now in Byron Bay its a good 13 hrs by coach from Sydney so as you can imagine once arrived we were completely pooped! just before getting into Byron we stopped at a service station where i became pretty emotional at the amount of spiders all around the place!! literally in one area there must have been at least 8 crawling up and down webs above us and plenty more - was not a happy bunny wanted to go somewhere where they wouldnt be...cue the driver who took us to Byron:-D
We arrived in the dark so couldnt fully grasp what the place was like. The hostel we are staying at is Main Beach Backpackers and fairly decent, we are in a 6 bed dorm - 3 swedish girls and a guy. The girls however left the next morning. there is a kitchen , sitting room, dining room, showers and a pool. It isnt like the other hostels as some areas are open so you go outside to get to the showers etc. We found in daylight that there are lots of shops, restaurants, pubs for us to amuse ourselves, we hear that the beach is close too and theres a place called Nimbin were going to ' very hippy' and aboriginal according to people we've spoken to. once we know more i shall continue this blog - lots of love xxx
This last week has flown by i am trying to think what events have taken place in last couple of days. The first day here were got aquainted with the area and the beach, the beach is incredibly long, we imagine it takes hours to walk from one end to the other. The sea isnt as nice when we went for a swim on Monday and it gave you a wierd tingling feeling on your body, kinda felt like a sting which didnt amuse me lol. Tuesday we took a walk upto Byron Lighthouse, the heat was scorching over the 30s mark and walking up there was knackering, Adam seemed fine as usual, dunno why but i was exhausted the sweat just drips off you, it aint pretty!! the views at the top however are spectactular, you get to see the entire east coast and its just beautiful, in the distance you see dolphins too:) on our walk back we stopped off at the beach, this time we were a lot further than where we went on Monday this area was calm and clean, there was even a small lake in between in, well thats what it looked like. After a brieft moment here we carried on walking back - Adam stopped me, i was unsure why but then all was revealed, yes a black snake was there...yes a deadly one we reckon well posionous for sure!! we calmly stayed until it slitered away before carrying on. It wasnt that scary to be honest, you kinda thought it would be aswell.
Wednesday New Years eve we went to Nimbin, which is at least an 1hr - 1.30 away from Byron, a camper sort of car pulled up and we got on, the seats were leather so with the heat our backs were drenched with sweat...got some drinks at the first stop before arriving at the waterhole adam jumped off the waterfall a few times, he seemed to do it at ease, he said it was simple so i thought ok not gonna be able to do this again so jumped it, around 25ft in height i was shaking before and after, easy my asss!! the lier! it is the most wierdest experiences i have ever felt and i didnt stop going on about it for most the day haha. Nimbin itself is not what we expected its very small and hot. We got asked many times if we wanted drugs they just ask - its strange how the cops dont do anything. All in all though a definate day out that you should go on and i would highly reckommend it. The evening we spent with a couple we'd met from the trip was a great night before heading to the beach at 11.30 which was packed, the atmosphere was incredible and everyone was so friendly there was a few fireworks, none to write home about but all in all a good night:)
