We awoke at 7 am got changed, had breakfast and left Boston hostel in pursuit of the airport. Today we are off to Chicago. Our flight was at 10.35 am with American Airlines. The flight itself was ok...that was until we had to land. It was like being on a roller-coaster, your stomach churned well mine did at least. Adam said he liked the feeling. You know the one you get when you go over a big hill in the car a little too fast?
Once in Chicago we got onto the CTA lines in the direction of downtown. One problem, which stop was downtown, there were many stops and none that explained where to get off! We got off at the wrong stop, back on again to the right stop. We made it however to the Clinton line and to the Union Station where we were to board the Metra line to Fox lake, getting off at Libertyville. Once at the Djuric's we had a shower and put our things away. My relatives arrived home between 6-6.30pm and was great seeing them again. After some chatting we watched a film before getting to bed.
Not sure on what we have in store but i do know that exercise is first on our agenda:)
The past few days have been spent doing a mixture of things, here we shall share with you what we've done up until we leave:)
Our days have consisted mainly by waking early after literally no sleep, having breakfast, watching morning TV, checking emails and doing some exercise. A few days into our stay here and the cause of having no sleep for many days caused myself to sleep walk!! something unknown to me, i was told i must be over tired. Adam laughs - he hears a bang and comes into the room "What are you doing" there's me clinging onto a chest of draws, pulling them towards me as though about to fall on top of me, Books cascading to the ground!! I then begin to panic that something is wrong with my brain. Luckily haven't done that again since!
We decided on our first day to go to the nearby park for some jogging, it felt like cross country, especially with the weather being cold. Adam decided to add in some different things for example, sprint up to that tree and then continue jogging! this was our first time jogging after 5 months, what is he crazy!!! so I did it. Then he continued side gallops etc. we stop...Adam places 3 items on the ground, each of which have some distance from the other. He says. Run to the first then back, then to the second and back and finally to the third and back. My word this was tough but we did it and kinda felt good afterwards.
One of the days in Libertyville we got taken to the mall that is in good proximity to their house, say a 30 minute walk. Luckily got driven so was ok, there was a macy's sale so we had a look to see what bargains we could find. Nothing needed so we left to go to Walmart. Now if you are unaware Walmart is the best shop ever, i think it's amazing and super cheap!! Boys know well the joys of Walmart haha. Adam wasn't as impressed than i was, probably cause he's used to buying expensive stuff, when i think who cares if it looks good then what matters.
Another shopping mall we went to was Gurnee Mills, dad we went to this mall when we visited years ago, the one with the rainforest cafe. Of course we went their for our dinner, its incredible the restaurant is set up to make you feel like your in the rainforest, you sit down and you feel like it's raining outside but your inside so it can't be. They have giant animals over the place (not real of course) a dancing monkey, parrot, snakes, crocodiles etc. A few times they make it feel like there's a thunderstorm with a lighting effect thrown in. The food was ok, drinks were good. Thank you Debbie for the treat it was too kind we really appreciated it. After we'd finished eating we carried on our shopping spree around the mall. We got there at 3 pm and left around 8 pm, totaling 6 hours shopping! this was the first time we'd been able to shop properly. Unfortunately the credit card was used on my end that is, But as Adam said even though the currency isn't so good, it is still cheaper than back home. Well some things, others not so much.
We awoke this morning with the plan to go to Chicago and it is chokablocked with snow! so think we shall leave that one till tomorrow. It is like a white wonderland, it's lovely the most snow we've ever seen:) probably the amount England saw when we were in Oz. Unsure of the plans, think i may help my auntie with some easter stuff and we have the film 'Australia' to watch. Also feel we need to rest as we have had no rest really - the sleep deprivation is getting to me, feeling hot and un well the last few days and a doggy knee. I swear it runs in our family haha. anyways enjoy!
If anyone hasn't seen the film australia then you should, it was amazing, plus Hugh Jackman, ding dong now he is fine!!!!
We got to see down town finally and no snow down there. It takes a good hr to walk to the station from my auntie's house, luckily the train was delayed so we got there just in time for it. It takes just under an hour to get downtown. The city is huge the buildings are incredible and so high. I could see why they chose chicago as the location for batman, some buildings are very quirky in decor adding to the atmosphere. Parts were dark and gloomy. I am always amazed by chicago. We went to Millenium park and looked around there, from here to michigan ave where all the top nosh shops were, if your rich go there its great, if not don't bother lol just kidding some places are ok priced. We stayed downtown until around 4pm then headed back just because of the hour to libertyville, then another hour to the house.
The exercise stopped briefly but will resume asap - think New york will be plenty of exercise with the fast pace walking all the time hehe.
