Tonight is my last shift working at Oliver´s Travels before leaving La Paz on Monday morning, en route back to Peru. It has been a pretty awesome time in Bolivia but I am looking forward to leaving. After a while the constant offer of drugs everywhere gets pretty tiresome and walking back from work at 3am in temperatures below zero gets pretty annoying so it will be nice to head back in to Peru to actually get a little bit of warmth.
Tomorrow I have a day to pack so figured its a good chance to get the last of my souviniers here in Bolivia while it is still cheap with the awesome exchange rate. Although it sounds pretty strange I am looking forward to my bus journeys all the way back to Lima. Although it will be a few days by bus and numerous bus changes it will be good to cover some of the country that we missed out on due to the road blocks that were in place at the time.
I am also looking forward to getting back to the UK and catching up with friends and family. Although I have had an absolutely amazing time here in South America, it is a very tiring country and can be lonely at times. I have met a lot of people while working at the bar but I guess nothing quite compares to the company of your friends and family over a drink, but it is definitely an experience I will never forget!
I would definitely recommend Bolivia as a place to travel but my best advice would be make sure to pack enough warm clothes, I have spent the last 3 weeks constantly shivering and with a cold just because the temperatures are so low! So much for escaping the British summer for a warmer climate!! I never thought I would say this but I am actually looking forward to enjoying some of the British warmth...I guess theres a first for everything!
