Today was our first travel day and not knowing what to expect was getting the better of both of us. After checking out of our fabulous hostel we made our way round to the bus. Here we met our first BusAbout guide Sheree and our first BusAbout guide Joe.
Fortunately for us the all 17 passengers on board were first time BusAbout passengers so Sheree went through everything step by step. We sat at the front of the bus to cure any chance of ill feelings through out the journey.
After leaving Paris, Joe took a short cut which in the end saved us about an hour and a half. What a Champ!!! We headed South West through Auxerre and made our first stop after around 2 hours. After negotiating our first international food stop (service station) we were back on the bus and watching Oceans 12. This was relevant to our journey because during the movie George Clooney and Brad Pitt are seen out the front of Gare du Nord station which we were at just days earlier.
When the movie was finished we were well into the French countryside and Sheree put on Anchorman starring Will Ferrell. What relevance this had to the voyage I'm still not sure but it was funny none the less.
Half way through the movie we stopped for Mcdonalds near the Swiss border, probably about half an hour. We were warned that the Swiss border is the hardest one to cross but fortunately we didnt have any problems.
Once into Switzerland we quickly started to call it Dreamland and Fairytaleland because of the wonderous beauty. After dropping a couple of passengers in Bern and gaining a few also we were hit by Sheree with the proposition of White Water Rafting. Tomorrow!!!
We didnt really need much convincing so we signed up for the Rafting and also a Seilpark course (high ropes). Quickly after this was decided we were in Interlaken and only half an hour from Lauterbrunnen. The views were just exquisite. On our way into Lauterbrunnen Sheree pointed out a hotel were the traditional Swiss dish Rosti is best-served.
After checking into Camping Jungfrau we learned that our accomdation for the next five nights will be a Caravan!!! Rock on...
As the local shop was closed we decided to head out for Rostis. WOW!!! Its like a hash brown base without the hard covering then smeared in different topings. Mine had Bacon, Mince, Onion and Melted Cheese whilst Lauras came with a Bratwurst and some onion.
Very full we tucked ourselves into our caravan and looking forward to White Water Rafting tomorrow....
