Another mini break-this time in a big pink bus. Shauns friend David was staying with us and just happend to live in a tour bus. he suggested that instead of driving around in our car, we take this and save a bit on accomodation-good idea! It was a bit daunting at first, getting used to driving such a huge vehicle, but I soon got used to it, although everytime I drove Shaun would go and sit in the back-wonder what he was scared of?
We started off by driving through Arthurs pass-a very picturesque drive (supposed to be the most scenic in NZ or the world?)...rather like the Lewis pass if you ask me. Apparently they were going to ban tourists driving it as there were to many accidents, so I wasn't allowed to drive this bit-but it gave me a good reason to sit back and enjoy the ride. We picked up a German couple on the way through to Murchison (they were off to the west coast) and got to our destination with a few hours of sunlight to spare-time for a beer. We met up with Shauns friend Holly who was working as a white water raft guide there. After our beer she drove us down to a beautiful place to stay for the night; right on the river. After a few drinks it was time to turn in (and after my eel experience I was glad to get to bed!)
