I am now two days ahead of myself, having left on the 25th and getting here on the 27th. The flight was good...met some people going on my flight from my hostel..so made the journey all the more bearable.
My hostel is smack bang in the centre of Auckland, so ideal for shops and sightseeing.
Did the sky jump and walk today. An amazing experience....looking down onto at over 100m towards the ground was farily scary...even though I'm not that scared of heights. We walked around a metre and a half platform, connected to ropes above us, tied to the front and back of us. It was fairly windy which made walking difficult, but swinging off the side of the platform was fun!
After the walk we had to go down and suit up for the jump (this time a snazy blue flying suit!) We went up to the same platfrom we did the walk from and were attached to wires, kind of like zip wires. The guy counted one two three, and off I went! I slid down part way, so he could take a photo, then zoomed all the way down to the bottom. It must have only taken a few seconds, but I was laughing all the way down. I will definitely be trying to do a bungy jump now!
After all the exctiement I went to the Auckalnd museum...lots of exhibits of Maori culture, explanaitions of how NeW Zealand was formed and settled. It was very intersting and used up my day if nothing else.
Have found out some disturbing news about people in the East of the Island. In whakatane (wh pronounced f) they still eat people that tresspass on thier land-nice! Will not be going out that way on my travels then!
