Hope you all had a very Happy Easter and a great break from work! At the start of last week I had the worst food poisoning imagineable! I had a caesar salad at the Pizza place on the Saturday night and by the Sunday I was doubled up with cramps in work then that night I started vomiting and had diarrhoea aswell - not very nice! I felt awful on Monday but dragged myself to work, at the hotel, but thankfully my boss took one look at me and sent me home. Bit of a bummer cause I was losing the hours but all I wanted was my bed. I went back to work on Wednesday, not fully recovered but needing the cash, and could only start eating on Thursday night! Needless to say I am not having any more staff food at Arthurs and I have told them that I was ill but whether they do anything about it is a different matter!
So for the rest of the week I worked, but I wasn't in work until 5pm on Good Friday, so Jem and I wanted to make the most of our only time together over the Easter break so we got up early, headed to Bondi to watch the surfers and windsurfers and then we tucked into a gorgeous brekkie at Trio which overlooks the beach. The weather wasn't great but after breakfast we walked to the Golf Course in North Bondi to have a look at the Aboriginal rock engravings. While we were there we randomly bumped into our friend Chris Buck who was playing golf with his Dad and brother, Steve Buck, so it was good to have a chat with them. We then walked to Rosebay, which took a about 40 minutes. Once in Rosebay we found a narrow alleyway between the shops near Newcastle Street and walked down to the beach. There was a low tide so we walked along the beach to Dumaresq Reserve and then up New South Head Rd to Tivoli Ave, then left into Bayview Hill at the end of which is the Hermitage Foreshore Walk. Until 1984, when it was added to the Sydney Harbour National Park, this foreshore reserve had been mostly occupied by neighbouring property owners, generally excluding public access. The Hermitage Foreshore Track provides an easy 1.5km walk from Rosebay to Nielsen Park. It took us about an hour and was a really pleasant walk through natural bushland with outstanding views of the Sydney Harbour and the city.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and came across the most beautiful beaches so close to the city. We discovered Queens beach, Hermit Point, Tingara beach and lastly, the best, was Milk beach which is in front of the 1850's villa, Strickland house. We had a great day and I just got into work for 5pm! Unfortunately for us, Jem was off for the four days over Easter and I was working so we didn't have very much time together but we're going to make up for it when we're off next week - I can't wait because we have so much planned.
We had a great night on Easter Sunday though because we went out for fish and chips, and lots of wines cause it was BYO, with our friends Laura and Ian. We had a brilliant night and it was good to catch up but I was suffering on Monday morning when I had to go and work at the hotel from 8.30am to 3.30pm and then, after a quick shower and change, go straight to work at Arthurs til 11pm!
Tomorrow I'm off work so Jem and I are going for a run in the morning, then Jem's got work at 12 and i'm off to Sydney Aquarium and Darling Harbour for a wander around. Fingers crossed for sun hey!
lots of love xxxxxx
