Hello everyone, we have been on the move again and arrived in Kuala Lumpur this morning. The plane journey to Penang was a bit dodgy, it was very stormy and we were on a tiny plane, not sure it was safe at all! Penang was nice although we were only there one night so didn't get to see much. The evening we arrived we found ourselves near Chinatown and so we endulged ourselves with street eats, one snack we have was pig fat (we think), garlic, bean sprouts, spring onions, chilli paste alll wrapped up in banana leaf and a bit of news paper, sounds disgusting but was delicious! The next morning we got the bus to the ferry, except we got the wrong bus ended up way far away and had to get a taxi lol, then got the ferry to butterworth. Then we headed straight for the station and managed to book to tickets for a sleeper train to KL. We almost missed the train because we forgot to change our clocks one hour ahead! we were very lucky it was late. The sleeper train was as usual not very sleepy, and this one was quite smelly :-( We are staying in a nice guesthouse which we checked into this morning in the golden triangle area. Today we went out in the search for some trousers for winter new zealand and anything else we could find. I managed to get a pair of jeans and a long sleeved top for under 20 pounds so that was pretty good. Then we went for some sushi for lunch which was really tasty. Unfortunately after all our bargain hunting we got ripped off by a fake monk who conned us into giving him almost half our daily budget! We are such muppets. Oh well lesson learned. Tonight we are going to go see the towers which should be really cool! We have also heard rumours of a near by theme park which is tempting:-) Malaysia is a fusion of Malay, Chinese, Indian so very different from everywhere else we have been so far, very colourful and a big variety of food. We are finding it a lot more expensive here, and Singapore will be even more so, so trying hard to budget hard and avoid fake monks lol. The weather is warm and dry at the moment, but there is a monsoon lurking around every corner! The people seem nice here, whenever we tell them we are from England they kinda shout "yer England!!" and mumble on about football and David Beckham for a while. Sorry if speliing has been bad and things haven't made sense but time is running out!......bye bye for now lots of love abbey and henry x x x x x
