A and J World Trip
Hi Everyone!!
Hope you are all doing well.
Since we last wrote, we have travelled through the south of Peru - well taken in the highlights at least.
Arriving in Peru we noticed some immediate improvements - buses work, food was better and the loo roll was softer!!
We visited the Reed Islands on Lake Titicaca first and even took a ride in a reed boat. It was fascinating to see communities living on floating reeds in 20m deep of water. Most impressive though was the game of football that was being played. Admittedly they did have about 5 balls as they kept on losing them in the lake!
On to Cusco and we spent a couple of days chilling before setting off on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. The trek was amazing - hard, but amazing!! We spent 3 days walking through stunning mountain scenery and past Inca Ruins along the original Inca Trail. Our group was great fun and the food fantastic.
On the 4th Day we saw the sun rise over Machu Picchu and enjoyed several hours wandering amoungst the superb ruins - a truely stunning sight and definite WT highlight. Back in Cusco, we rested, relaxed and explored the beautiful city - a great place to hangout.
Next we had a flying (literally) visit to Nazca - where we flew over the Nazca Lines. These are huge shapes only visable from the air and are believed to date from 400BC. Don't think the photos really do them justice!!
Then to Lima - not much to report here as we didn't get to properly look around this time - we will be back in a month. On top of that, the weather was pretty horrible!! We did however enjoy a good evening drinking Pisco (Peruvian Spirit) in our Hostel!!
Thats all for now... Off to Ecuador next!
Lots of love, Andy and Jane xx
