A and J World Trip
Hi there everyone!!
Hope you all had a good Easter break and are doing well.
We've just had a fantastic 2 1/2 weeks in Bolivia and could have stayed longer - just brilliant. Not an easy place to travel - in fact, virtually every bus broke down for a good few hours - but the sights and people have well made up for it.
Santa Cruz was a calm start - few travellers seem to get there - and got us into the culture contrast from Argentina. We then started climbing in altitude and our heads started spinning! Slow travel was a must. Sucre was a beautiful city, all white washed walls and picturesque churches. Potosi was our high at 4100m! Lots of gentle wanders taking in the street scenes and stops for coffee!!
The highlight though was the scenery on our 4 day salt flat tour....wow wow wow!! So many varied landscapes. The salt flats themselves were incredible...360 degrees of reflective white views to the horizon! And then there was the wildlife...flamingoes, emus and llamas....which was fab to see for real. Just a brilliant trip.
Then the final week was spent travelling with friends met in Santiago...Damo and Rach. All good fun! We met up in La Paz, a bustling capital set in a drammatic crater, and made our way to Copacabana (Isla del Sol) which provided some lovely walking practise on the shores of Lake Titicaca.
And tomorrow we put the practise to the test...4 days trekking to Macchu Pichu!! Will let you know how we go!
Take care for now,
Lots of love, A & J xx
