All the way to Abu Dhabi and who do I see?
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Another attempted beach day, although today I was wise and got down to secure a beach umbrella early. Under the shade of the umbrella the beach was much more bearable, or perhaps I am starting to acclimatize! It was nice to spend the day relaxing in the shade and taking the occasional dip in the ocean which to be honest was more like a warm bath tub than much use for proving relief from the heat.
Due to the expensive meal out the previous night Ben cooked dinner for us (thanks Ben) and opened a nice bottle of Cloudy Bay (seems you can pretty much secure whatever alcohol you want over here, you just have to know where to go to get it).
That evening we were off to a Justin Timberlake concert. I have to admit he is someone I have wanted to see in concert, but it just felt slightly wrong to have come all the way here to go see an American artist perform. Clearly the 20,000 people at the concert did not have the same opinion and despite once again the stifling heat (so hot in fact I opted for water rather than beer to drink, now that is a first!) the concert was good. Great performer.
Nightmare getting home as the line for taxi's was a total disaster with people pushing in left, right and center and the local Emirati guys in charge of organizing this chaos totally incompetent. We did however meet a new friend, Vicky (who Ben correctly tagged as an Etihad employee, apparently you can spot an air stewardess a mile away :-) as she tried to bring some organization to the taxi line with only a very small degree of success I might add.
