Hello - here as promised thought one day late is the new blog...we're still on Koh Tao, because diving was so amazing and I'm addicted, that both J Rae and I decided to continue and complete the advance course. Which basicallly entails swimming to a depth of 30 metres (my ears will hurt so much!) gaining a better control of bouyancy (spelling???) ie. floating over coral and through caves better, learning how to identify fish, navigation and the part I'm most excited about...a night dive!! It will be so cool to be swimming in the dark with only a torch as my guide!? Only downside of this island is that I seem to be spending money like it's water, but the investments into diving will be so worth it - a couple of guys we met took lots of pictures and put a few on a disc for me, so if I get a chance I'll stick a few up to give you an idea of what I get to see!? Speaking of which, on our 3rd dive we saw a whale shark. It was huge! And was only 12metres deep, with also a reef shark trailing behind.? It was quite comical actually, because on? the way to the spot the captain had informed us of the whalesharks spotting, thus excitement rose! Our instructor, Chris said we were so lucky if we saw it, because some instructors whohave been on over 800 dives had still not seen one...SO there we were casually swimming along, with Chris ahead busy pointing out some barracude - when I (yes, observant me) spotted the shark, and began to tug hard on Chris' fins. We had a good 5 minutes just the 4 of us swimming with it, until about 40 other divers joined us and we couldn't see for bubbles! Luckily, because it was our last day of the course, we had a dvd made of it - with a big portion just the shark.....
?Other then the shark, today and yesterday consisted of being lazy; sunbathing, playing pool and drinking! In a minutes we are planning to head to the north of the island, and sunbathe on a pure white beach where the water is paradise clear.
?Should finish our advance on Monday, and then am heading to Koh Phi Phi, famous for poi (my next skill to be learnt) and 'The Beach.'?Isabelle will be leaving us for Bangkok, but rumour has it a guest will be returning.....Will keep everyone posted on this one! So for now, I'm off to relax and enjoy the serenity of this peaceful (ish) island! Than you to everyone who's posted messages - yes Olly I'm sure you're very jealous, and I definitely rate it! The good thing is, I'll be able to dive and annoy the fish world wide after Tuesday!
Lots of love Sophie x x x
