Caught another train uptown to Yankee Stadium to watch a game between New York Yankees and Blue Jays. Decided months ago that we wanted to experience one sporting event whilst in USA and this was the event!
Train was packed with people and as we approached the stadium there was a real buzz in the air. People were buying merchandise and food. There were those yelling out for tickets to buy and tickets to sell! Rob had to get our online tickets converted to the real thing, so after lining up, we soon had a ticketvti to the game in our hands.
Our seat was on the 2nd tier with good vision of the pitch, bases and batter, as well as, the score boards. Excellent spot.
I was surprised at how entertaining the game was as there ws so much organised for the supporters. Music between most plays, certainly between innings, and at other breaks. There was music for singing, chanting, dancing and clapping and the large crowd participated. It felt friendly. No agro for the referee, and lots of positive support for players. I was later told the crowd doesn't like the Boston Red Socks......perhaps that would have been an interesting game!
We decided to eat in stages. First pizza and the chicken and chips! No dinner tonight! We have been buying fresh lemonade which has been refreshing and delicious. Not sure how it's made but it tastes like water, ice and half a lemon shaken together.
The weather was incredibly humid and we were dripping. I kept thinking howgreat Iit was our tickets were not on the other side of the stadium in the sun as in the shade was hot enough.
The Yankees lost 4 runs to 5 from Blue Jays. The crowd not happy as the Yankees had made an error. BUT they were also the only team to score 2 home runs which was exciting to see....the crowd lived that!
I had a good time at the Baseball and would even go again:)
