Thankfully the kids had a better night last night. It seems our choice to slow down a bit over the last 2 days have helped a bit. It actually took us longer to pack up all our things and get on the road today than it has been when we are packing up the camper. I think when you are in a cabin things just get put anywhere and everywhere but in the camper everything has its place.
After getting a quick coffee for morning tea at Maccas we were back on the road. We had 330km to drive today and about half of that was dirt. The dirt road would have been the most rough we had been on this trip with lots of loose gravel and corrugation. Ed had a little nap but the roads were too rough for him to stay asleep. James seemed to get his appetite back in the car and I didn't have much to offer him, so we found a little spot off the road to stop for lunch. There were lots of large ant hills where we stopped and James enjoyed exploring the 'ant houses' as he called them. As soon as we got back in the car James fell asleep and pretty much stayed that way for 2 hours over rough roads. We did wake him up for a water crossing we had to do thinking he would be pretty excited, and he was, but then straight back to sleep.
When we arrived at out camping grounds, Adels Grove, we went and checked in and had a little look around the deck and bar and were pretty impressed. We then got back into the cars and headed towards our camping area in 'The Grove'. It was a large camping area covered in a lush canopy of trees. As we first drove around it seemed so busy that we thought there was no way we would find an area big enough for 4 camping trailers to set up together. We did manage to find a spot and while the men worked out the logistics of where everyone was going to go Jan and I took the boys for a walk to see what was around. We headed straight for the water and were very impressed by its amazing colour, 'the beach', as they named it, seemed a perfect place to go for a swim when we had a chance.
When everything was set up we sat and had 'happy hour', fed the kids, put them to bed and had tea ourselves. Graeme managed to get some TV reception with the satellite dish so we all sat and watched a bit of footy before heading to bed ourselves.
