What a day it has been. After breakfast we packed our camel backpacks with snacks and water and headed out on our bikes.
Burlington has a really nice bike path that starts in the city and runs north along the lake into the islands. We rode north of the campground and We thought we wanted to reach the bike ferry to explore one of the islands. The ride to the ferry was about 8.5 miles from us. The first 4 miles were paved, however, after the causeways park the path is gravel. After riding for about another 4 miles, the kids said they wanted to turn back..the ride on gravel plus the wind coming across the lake made it a tough ride.
We headed back and stopped for lunch at Charlie's Boat House. It was a little place run by two elderly siblings. They rent boats, have some picnic tables, can cook you a burger- even veggie, and you can even meet Buddy the beagle. It looks like the have a few RV spots no hook-ups with a lake view.
We got back back to the campground, grabbed our river tubes, and headed to the beach to cool off. After the swim/float, we took showers and had dinner. We thought we would head on the bike path towards downtown, but we were really tired from the 16 miles earlier, so we decided to skip it. We made a fire instead and had smores.
Tomorrow we head to New Hampshire. This is a very pretty area I would not mind spending a long weekend- the kids wanted to stay longer.
