On the road again...is it plagerism if I use a common phrase? Either way I love that line. I love the thought of hitting the road again. I love the thrill and excitement I feel when we pull out of our driveway. The anticipation of exploring new or old familiar sites and the adventures and discoveries they will bring. Also, it's vacation, what is not to love about it.
We left the house around 3:30PM with a goal of driving 324 miles to a Cabela's north of Columbus Ohio. As usual for a Friday we encountered some traffic on the 90 heading towards Buffalo.
We stopped for gas and dinner in Ohio and I took over driving. We encountered some delays in Ohio 71 due to contruction and were wondering if we would make it to Columbus. It's not summer time, so the sun is setting around 7:30. We are getting to the point that prefer driving the RV in daylight, especially since we are towing the car. Long gone are the days when we would drive over 600 miles in one day. I guess we are just getting older and its too tiring to do that.
I wanted to make sure we kept the next driving day to less than 500 miles..the closer to 400 the better. There was a nice rest area we could have stopped. It was big and had plenty of spaces available, but it was too far. The next rest area was within at an acceptable driving range the next day, but it was small and prety full already.
I kept driving and pulled into the Cabela's around 10:15PM. Gil had been sleeping in the bed for a while already. Within 15 minutes of being parked our batteries died. Oh well, sorry for the other people in the parking lot. We have to run the generator for the bpap machine. I was suspecious something is wrong with the batteries, but this proved it. This turned out to be issue #1 of the trip.
