We are on a mini vacation Around Lake Erie. Our first stop is Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
We drove off Friday evening and after being stuck in construction traffic in PA we did not make it as far as we wanted to go. We stopped for the night a Presque Isle Casino 104 milesaway. They allow overnight parking - no fee, but no generators. It was a cool night, so we opened up the windows and ran our battery operated fan.
In the morning we got ready and drove to the first rest area to turn on the generator and make breakfast - got to use that toaster.
After another 104 miles we arrived at CVNP Rockside Station early afternoon. We set out on our bikes to ride the Towpath Trail. This trail is over 85 miles long. Alongside the path they operate a Scenic Railway. Bikers can ride the path one way and hop back on the train with the bike for $3 a person. We set off from the Rockside station going south and when we had enough, we rode back to the nearest train station and went back on the train.
After the bike ride we went for dinner at LockKeepers. It is a fine dine restaurant, but they did not mind we were dressed down. They sat us by the bar area, away from the well-dressed people. The food was delicious and the service was exceptional. I mentioned before I do not care for fancy places to eat. The fact is when a place looks fancy and charges fancy prices, but the food and service are to par with a regular nice restaurant, then I feel like I got ripped off. I do not mind paying high prices when the food is this good and the service is top of the line. I left feeling it was worth the price.
After dinner we treated ourselves to Malley's Chocolates - I took mine for later. We then got in the RV and set off to our next destination. More to come...
