I woke up Wednesday looking at the weather to decide what to do. The storm never hit NOLA - the tail of it is still affecting the Mobile area. We could go into NOLA visit other sites there and then stay the night at a campground there since there was no flooding or we could do something else.
The Pastor recommended a Swamp tour with Pearl River Eco Tours. I checked them out online and it sounds interesting, it was one of the possibilities to do while in this area. I called and they are running the 2:30 tour. Gil does not feel like going back to NOLA. We decided to go on the swamp tour and then continue East but staying west of Mobile to allow the storm to completely pass.
The swamp tour was really good. It took us through canals, the river, the old river and bayou. We saw lots of gators. The tour guide made a sound he said is the sound the mothers make to call the young and they never forget it. They started coming out from all directions. They feed them marshmallows since they are not allowed to actually feed them. The marshmallows are treat to them because of the gelatin.
We saw many other animals and birds including a snake, turtles, egret, raccoons and some red wasps. The tour was wonderful.
After the tour we drove East about an hour and stayed near Biloxi. We have to figure out tomorrow if Gulf State Park is open and we can head there as planned.
