Day 2
We set the alarm to wake us up at 7am, but we struggled to wake up as the Marriott bed was way too comfortable and luxurious. We eventually got up to make our way to Raffles Place station, where the Chinese Visa Application Service Centre is located. When we got there the lady said we needed our air tickets for China, which we did not have!! So Jay went back to the hotel to get them. We chose the express service so we could collect them on Friday, costing us 120 SGD each.
After this we stopped off at a food court nearby to get something to eat, as we missed breakfast. We had curry chicken noodle soup, this was really filling and tasty.
We went to 313 Somerset Mall which is near Orchard Road, to shop around. Jay bought a Singapore football top and Helen bought a nice summery top. Inside this mall we had ice-cream at the 'Marvellous Cream' Japanese ice-cream shop. Helen and a mango ice-cream cone with fresh strawberries, blueberries and mango. Jay had a Manhattan brownie cone bowl with cream milk ice-cream. They were both delicious!! One of the best ice-creams we have ever had.
We looked around Takashimaya Mall, but did not buy anything.
After this we went back to our hotel to take advantage of the spa facilities again, this was very relaxing!!
We went to Killiney Road for dinner, which is a street with various food stalls. We had Char Siu Noodles and Hainanese Chicken, but neither of them were great as the food was not fresh and was not served hot. We were disappointed and still hungry, so we went to the 'Food Republic' food court in the 313 Mall. Where Jay had 2 curry puffs, 2 fresh mangos and a peanut butter sponge cake!! Helen had a raspberry cream sponge cake, fresh pineapple and fresh honeydew watermelon. All of that food was amazing and made up for the previous meal.
We took the MRT to City Hall Station to get to the Raffles Hotel, this is the most prestigious and famous hotel in Singapore. We both had a Singapore Sling, costing 25 SGD each. Not the cheapest cocktail in the world, but definitely one of, if not the best!
After this we went to a pub across the road called 'The Lot Stock and Barrel'. We sat on the comfy leather sofa were Jay had two pints of draught Tiger Beer and Helen had a 'Japanese Slipper' cocktail (Midori, Triple-Sec and lime juice with a cherry). Both of the drinks were served with free snacks and were enjoyable.
