After the rainforest canopy trek we headed onto Sukau and a boat trip along the Kinabatangan River. Pitching up in a random village we organised the tour for the following morning.
The 29th August was Sonny's 29th birthday but it very much differed to the normal big weekends drinking! In a good way though!
Went for a meal and early night all set for the trip in the morning. 5.30am start and out on the boat by 6am.
Along the trip we saw proboscis monkeys, grey and orange monkeys, various tropical birds including eagles and lots of other smaller forest wildlife. Was a shame we didn't see the elephants or alligators as the guys on the previous day's trip did but you can never guarantee wildlife! Was a great morning!
After the boat trip and breakfast we set off for Semporna.
The road trip has been great so far and Borneo amazing. The only sad thing you see on route is the massive deforestation and huge palm oil tree plantations. Sometimes you can drive for hours and only see plantations. The government are seeming to act and protect the rainforest but so much has gone already... Challenges of the need for National income in developing countries and the need to sustain the wildlife...
