Hey up folks, thought I would type another entry whilst I have a couple of spare minutes. After travelling to Auckland on a delightful bus journey one was glad to chill out. However chilling out in a busy city is a rather hard thing to do. But a walk to the harbour and a browse of the amazing boats soon perked one up. Also a little fact for you here that 1 in 4 families owns a boat and the population of Auckland is more than the whole of the South Island, that means that there are alot of people in a rather small space.
My thought on the city of Auckland.....built up and towering buildings pretty much describes it I reckon. The city of sails is a fitting name considering there are something like 14 harbours in the area. I think that is enough but well who knows. The skytower what an interesting invention, why someone would want to look out of the bottom of a building and see the ground and how far away they from it is beyond me! Must be a tourist thing! All in all Auckland is an intersting place but I know that I couldn't spend to long there.
After auckland it was a trek to Paihia which is where I am currently sitting typing away. The weather today is a little drizzly, reason being cyclone from the tropics has come on over for a quick hello, blinking fiji's fault. So well you can't actually see a bloody thing of the scenery its too foggy, which is a shame but well it could be worse. Atleast it's still warm. Will try and get some foggy pictures to try and demonstarte the sheer foggyness that it is! Still a busy little place I think, tourist central as most people stop here before heading to Cape reinga which is at the very top of NZ. There are various cool views from up here, hopefully fog will disperse by the afternoon but I'm not holidng out much hope on that front.
90 mile beach is here, a stupidly long beach which you can cruise along on on a bus with big wheels and do lots of skidding and such likes adrenaline fuelled mission i can tell you, good fun!
But well its a brief trip up north then its back to Auckland for a head rest then off to Mercury Bay and I am sure more wonderous things will be occuring.
Will keep you guys updated, this was brief but was just to let you know that all is well and one is smiling on through the days. Keep counting people still a while without me yet! Hahaha
