Hi All,
Here is the update from our last blog.
(28.9.12)The following day in Hoi An we decided to have a chilled out day, a little shopping around the street markets (Lee bought a beer T-Shirt). It was raining so bad, we have used our 100% waterproof coat loads! The both of us then spoilt ourselves and had a full body massage for 1 hour, it cost 10 pound each! Amazing! A girl on our tour Erica said she had read about a place on the river for dinner, you could only order one local dish with many courses. When we got to the restaurant it didn't look that great but decided to stick with it. We sat down and suddenly loads of food was bought to us, the guy showed us how to eat the local food and it was fantastic! We had so much food with so many Vietnamese flavors. That night we went to a local bar with everyone and Lee joined the others having 'Sheesha' (I had a sore throat so didn't)
(29.9.12)The next day we were in Hue in a hotel called Tigon Premium, Im going to be honest I wasn't very well as I had sore throat etc, so we didn't really do much here!
(30.9.12)The next day we had a walk around Hue and went to get lunch, we had to order more food to have in the evening on the next sleeper train…. L When we got to the train station it was 3pm, our train was delayed so we ended up getting into our little room at 4pm, we stayed on this train until 5am the next day… soooooooo long! Although Lee, Chelcey, Stephen and Me ended up staying up most of the night playing cards and drinking beer and Vodka. This train had no cockroaches, it was amazing compared to the last one.
(1.10.12)Our next day took us to Halong Bay (the most beautiful place ever) If you google it I think it is one of the top 7 natural wonders of the world J Our hotel was called Halong Bay Hotel, so close to everything, we loved it. From our room we had the most stunning view of the Bay. We took a boat out to the baysoooo much seafood given to us, we both ended up just eating chips, noodles and rice J When we arrived at the bay we took a smaller bamboo boat into the bays, this was the most amazing place ever, a lady peddled us through, it was so silent and so beautiful. At night we didn't have too much to do so after food we all went and bought wine and beer, and sat out as a group at the hotel drinking, singing and attempting drinking games.
(2.10.12) Today we left at 8am, this was so we could get a four hour bus journey to Hanoi. We arrived at our hotel and then went for a walk, we both had a traditional dish called 'Pho' for lunch, this was really tasty. We had a stroll around the local markets and ended up at the ' Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre' this was the famous show for Vietnam. It was so funny, the show explained how history had changed and the people acting where waist deep in the water behind the curtains and puppets in front. A few ladies explain what was going on in Vietnamese, luckily they had it on a screen in English. The show was so random, but im glad we saw it. That night after looking around for ages for food Lee had a KFC J and I had a yellow Thai curry. We sat on the top bar for one drink overlooking the busy night life and river.
(3.10.12) Today we had breakfast and went to the HoChi Minh Museum, I'm going to be honest it was very random, had cool artwork and odd things in. We then walked ages and ages to find an old wreckage of where a B-52 got shot down, we were so tiered after this so decided to go back to the town and go to lunch, we had seen a lovely place yesterday and ate their it was called Gecko. The rest of the afternoon we both did a little shopping Lee bought some Navy Converse high tops and I got some flip flops. That night we all went to a bar called hair of the dog, a few guys went onto the street to drink cheaper beer for a little then came back, the girls just danced all night drinking cocktails this was the night that Chelcey and Steve leftL.
(4.10.12) Today we got up a little later than normal with a bit of a hangover. We went to another place called Gecko, it's a chain but again tasted really good. We then said our goodbyes to Izzy, Hatty and Laura(they only did Vietnam with us) L and made our way to Laos on the airplane. Our next blog will tell you all about Laos….
Hope all is well and you are enjoying our updates,
Much Love
Zoe and Lee x
