Arrived in Laos after a 2 day slow boat sat on the floor!
Found a very cheap guest house, checked in and headed out for some dinner and drinks! Although in Laos they have a curfew and you must be back in your guest house by 12am, so as we went to leave a tuk tuk driver took us to a locals club that was open late, we were a little concearned but it turned out to be fine apart from the dodgy music!
We spent the next day getting a facial going for a walk and booked a tour, Busy!
Lucky for us after spending 2 days on a slow boat we were treated to another half day on a slow boat and about 20 mins in the caves that were pretty poor!
Off to Vang Vieng for tubing....
The bus was an experience after booking onto an aircon bus the driver did not want to put it on! We were driving down the mountain when were came to a big traffic jam, yes on the mountain! The previous night there was a mud slide and a bus got stuck we were stuck for 3 houirs and I did not feel confident with the rest of the journey as the driver tried to make up time!!!
We got here safe and treated ourselves to a bucket after a days travel and met up with some Irish guys we met in Luang Prabang!
Tubing-woke up not feeling to sharp and headed for the tubing station, I was slightly nervous after being told someone had died the previous day!We hired our inner tubes and off in a tuk tuk! I was delighted to see the water was mud brown but we jumped in and were off although my tube had a mind of its own and I was just being taken through the tree's to everyones amusement! I turned up at the bar about 10 minutes later where they pull you in with a smaller ring! We were spray painted up and had to face the first drink.....suprisingly I got through it! They also had a rope swing here I was not feeling brave enough though and still very dodgy so I sat clapping instead!
Off to the next bar and again my tube was doing its own thing and I almost ended up under the bar! Eventually I made it to the mud bar and in a hammock with yet another gin! Also it being called the mud bar involved mud volleyball that turned to mud wrestling! Back in the tube and another stop at last I could tube like a normal person, we stopped for a quick drink and moved on to the next. After stopping and climbing up the bank I was told we were moving on as the girls missed the stop! It started to rain and thunder and getting a little darker... We then missed the exit point and were just floating down the river, until eventually we made it across to side waited for a very drunk man to climb out andwe were out. Food, shower and buckets, we had to it was the the Irish's last night!
After a lay in we headed for a fruit shake and some friends all the bars play it here and have reasonably compfy seats so we spent a little time here, then a nap and some dinner, tonight is undecided....
