After leaving Ho Chi Mihn city we took a public (kareoke) bus to the Cambodian boarder, thank goodness no one actually wanted to sing!
It was a very painless boarder crossing and I got my visa with no problems, bumping into people we had previously met.
When we arrived we headed out for our orientation walk and spotted plenty of monkeys just hanging out on roof tops and the pavements-it's so unfair we get foxes and deer.
Our new leader Harry was a straight hit insisting we make the most of happy hour on a roof terrace bar! Even better Gin was in the happy hour-Zoe likes Cambodia!
For dinner we were taken to a little restraunt that all profits go to an orphanage and the children are trained in the catering business. We had plenty of other children trying to sell us fake lonely planets and begging we were told not to encourage this, they are very clever and no the funny English phrases to get you with and making you feel horrid. However I tried to buy them a drink instead but they wanted the money!
A quiet night and off to bed.
I got up early and headed fir a traditional Cambodian breakfast beef noodle soup, then off to the Royal Palace. It was beautiful and so grand the main theme being GOLD, we then made our way to the national museum which was full of the recovered buddah statues from the time the Khmer rouge army took over!
With an our to kill Sejal and I treated ourselfs to a blind massage it was incredible only a few times did I think they actually wanted to hurt me!
A bus ride and nap to Chambok for our homestay, we hung out at the local womens reastraunt ate and played cards before going to are bed for the night. A squat toilet no electric, no running water it was basic! I tried the frogs legs that had been caught and cooked that day 'chickeny'. We had to go to bed early 9pm as there were flying termites every where, it was a restless night with cows mooing the bus driver snoring and everyone talking it was far to hot to sleep. When I did finally sleep I was woken at 5.30am to cockrels and cows-all good Fu though!
We did a short trek up to a waterfall and were back on the bus for destination Sihanoukville! A very tourist attraction for old men in speedos apparently, woman harassing you on the beach and plenty of beggars! We were warned they will curse you and steal your bag!
Luckily we found an amazing private beach and pool where Sejal and I have spent the past two days sunning it up!
We have also been treated to seafood bbqs and drinks on the beach incredible!
Early start back to Phnom Penh tomorrow for the killing fields and one more night!
