Zoe and Ed's Travels
We're in Moscow. We've just been to the Kremlin. Yesterday we went to see Lenin in his mausoleum as well as St Basil's. The day before we did a river cruise, and then took a stroll in Gorky Park. This was all fairly enjoyable in spite of the amount of queueing and misinformation associated with visiting anywhere in Russia. We spent almost as long queueing to get into the Kremlin this morning as we actually spent inside looking at things.
St Petersburg was fairly interesting, although it did have a little of the feel of any other European city. Moscow is maybe a little different, and I think I (Ed) probably prefer it slightly, although there aren't as many pretty old things around as in St Petersburg.
Tomorow is our last day in Moscow. We get the train at 11pm tomorrow, and then it's four days on the train to Irkutsk. I hope that I (Ed) will be able to sleep a little better than I did on the train from St Petersburg to Moscow. I suppose that I'll get used to it.
We've been enjoying sunny weather, but it's now getting a bit chillier. Hope that this trend doesn't continue, and that we survive Siberia and Mongolia!
Had some nice (and some less nice) Russian food. Splurged a bit on a nice Bulgarian restaurant in Moscow. The hotel in Moscow is a little bit disappointing for the money; the room's a little shabby and a few bits and pieces don't work properly. Oh, and the staff are really rude. Still, we're trying to get our money's worth on the buffet breakfast every day.
