We have returned from our trek. We're not sure where to start... so maybe the beginning is a good idea.
We spent saturday night sleeping out in the jungle, after swimming in a waterfall. The guides made a shelter out of bamboo with banana leaves on the floor. It wasnt comfy. All of our dinner was cooked from bamboo, even our cutlery was bamboo! (will be bringing home). There were many large creepy-crawlies. One very large cockroach in sarahs drying pants.(photo to follow). We sat round a fire getting to know the dutch people we were walking with, and fascinating our thai guides with ipods and the like. After walking yesterday, we spent the night with a lahu hill tribe. It was all rather strange, though interesting and enjoyable. They have pigs. Mum i want a pig (zoe). The kids bullied zoe lots. There was a chicken selected and killed for our meal, although we only had the intestines and a ball (eyeball/testicle?) in our evening meal. Not sure where the meat went. We walked a bit more today, said bye to the random dog that followed us for all of the 3 days, bye to the nice people we've met, and now we're back in Pai. Not sure what we're going to do tomorrow, hopefully will organise something to do with elephants.
Oh yes haha sarah has just this evening worked out after 4 days that our toilet does have a flush. She does not manually have to flush everything down with a ladle of water. And now she's out in her pjamas because all of her clothes are away being washed by an old woman at the laundrette - with ironically dirty clothes.
Hope you are all well
