Me and Amelia woke up about nine thirty am which was about three thirty in England. We got ready and went down for breakfasts which was lovely. We tried to fill up as much as we could but we were feeling a bit weird which was probably the time difference and lack of sleep so we wasn't that hungry. When we'd finished we went out to look for a tuc tuc for the day. We found one and asked the man to take us to the main sights. First he took us to a random shop which we didn't ask to go with but we knew the tuc tucs earns commission from taking people to look around so we took a quick look and left. Then we went for a boat trip on the Phraya River. It was just me and Amelia on the traditional Thai boat and we saw lots of different famous buildings and local people's wooden homes on each side of the river! We saw fish and even saw what looked like a baby crocodile in the water which made us jump. Next we went to another random shop which sold blazer jackets so we looked round quickly again and left. We wanted to go and see the Grand Palace and Sleeping Buddha but it was closed for the holidays as it was Thai New Year so we took a look at it from outside the walls. We then went to see the two Temples and Golden Buddha. When we had seen all the sight we asked the tuc tuc to drop us at a shopping mall just five minutes from our hotel. It was so hot and I was it finding it hard to keep my eyes open on the back of the tuc tuc. Me and Amelia took a look around the mall and had some lunch. When we got back to the hotel we thought we would go and check the pool out in the hotel. It was gorgeous outside on the roof on one of the floors. We rushed to get ready for a swim and went straight back to the pool. Even though the sun was going in the water was warm and the air was humid. We used my underwater camera for the first time in a pool and took lots of silly photos. Once we got out of the pool we chilled on one of the sunbeds and as it was getting dark everything started to light up. When we went back to our room we got ready to go out to Koh Sam Road as we had heard that was the place to go for backpackers. Before we left we used the Internet in the lobby and I got to speak to Matt and Yas. We found a tuc tuc and asked him to take us to Koh Sam Road. We knew it was the Songkran Festival for New Year but we never expected to find what we did when we got to Koh Sam Road. We got out the car and was squirted by a water gun and that's as wet as we thought we would get until we turned the corner and saw the biggest and craziest water fight I've ever seen. The road was just full of people squirting and throwing buckets of water at each other. It was crazy we couldn't even see what was going on because everyone was throwing water at us. We quickly found a stall to hide behind and quickly bought our own water guns and accepted that we were going to get very wet. We joint in the celebrations which was good fun. The water fight went on along the whole road and everyone was dancing and celebrating while squirting water at each other. There were also a lot of Thai people putting some sort of cream on everyone's face and saying Happy New Year. It wasn't very nice and it kept getting slapped all over our face and mouth so we couldn't see. We wanted to try some Thai food from one of the stalls from the street but there was no where to take cover and eat so we ended up eating in McDonalds as it was inside and we could sit and eat it without getting wet. Once we finished we joint back in with the festival until about two o'clock when we decided we couldn't get any wetter and took a tuc tuc back to our hotel. We showered and got to bed ready for traveling to Chiang Mai the next day.
