Hi everyone,
It's been about a month since I posted something so I figured it's probably about time to fill you all in with what's been happening over this side of the world... not much really. I've been getting in to a working routine, even though it is only a 3-4 day week at the moment. Weekends have been plenty of fun but have been subdued on occasion due to cash flow problems. Not that I'm spending more than they're paying me at work (although it is close), but more that I can't access my money. I've been setting up a limited company and until last week I didn't have a business account for Mute to make payments. I've given them my first invoice now so it shouldn't be more than a couple of weeks until I have money in my personal British bank account - lucky, cos I'll be skint after this weekend! Work is going well. I'm flat out which is making the days fly by (sometimes too fast for how much work I have to do) and my CD collection is growing at a decent rate. The office I'm in, which is made up of marketing, IT/web and PAs is pretty rowdy and hilarious. Plenty of characters here and the sound of continuous tunes pumping through the beastly speakers around me... it's great! Oh and one band I can recommend that I've got in to since I've been here is Goldfrapp. Some of you will already be familiar with them... they're not a small band (especially not in the UK) and most of you would recognise a few tracks, but damn it's good stuff! Mum, I'll send you their two albums and a few singles, you'll love it!
Bree has moved out. She found a great job soon after we moved in together but it was miles away from Dollis Hill and she was spending between 3-4 hours traveling to work every day. Now she's living south of the river near Clapham Junction. Nice area and close enough for us to catch up regularly. I know she'll really miss the house... but she can always visit. So with Bree gone I had a few options - I could keep the room and pay the full rent (not likely) or I could find another room mate or I could move out. Bree and I advertised for a flat mate but to be honest I didn't really like the idea of sharing a room with someone I hardly knew and although plenty of people responded to the add and a couple asked if they could take the offer, my house mates came up with a better alternative. We did a little room shuffling (or musical rooms as I call it) and I could doss. For those who don't know, dossing is basically staying with someone for free... however, this isn't something you can do long term cos ultimately you out stay your welcome. Another form of dossing which I've seen more often is where the dosser pays the bills or a smaller amount each week for the privilege of sleeping on the couch. This is SORT of what I'm doing. Dollis Hill is a dosser's heaven! There's a double bunk in our huge lounge room and a chest of drawers for clothes etc. Plus everyone crashes pretty early during the week which means you have it pretty good! Anyway, the deal was that I could doss until I figured out what I wanted to do. I'm hoping to talk Lewis in to moving in to Dollis Hill with me. It's further from his work but not that far and he'll have a great time! :)
At the moment I'm staying at Paul & Lauren's place in Kilburn. They and the rest of their house mates are in Poland for the week and I couldn't miss the opportunity to have a little space to myself. The Dollis Hill house is chockas at the moment and Kilburn is even closer to my work so it all works out rather nicely.
This week on one of my days off I visited Westminster Abbey - the brochure said "House of God - House of Kings" and I tell you what they're not kidding! How many ancient monarchs can you bury in one building? Want to know the answer, go to Westminster Abbey! As always it rained on me as I stood in the long queue, but it was worth it. Magnificent in it's extravagance and history - almost a 1000 years! Unfortunately you can't take photos inside so you'll just have to take my word for it. However, I did take some great shots outside and I'll post them soon, maybe even after this, if time permits. I also caught the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace but I was too late to get a decent spot so I strolled through St James Park to The Marble Arch and then back to St James Palace. This was in the morning when the weather was pleasant. I tell you, London is more unpredictable weather wise than Melbourne ever could be!
Tomorrow, over the long Easter weekend, I'm heading to Wales with Lewis and two of his work mates. Yep, a boys road trip. We have a car (which helps with road trips) and plan to show Cardiff what we're made of... although from what I hear I think Cardiff will have more in store for us than we do for it! Apparently it can be a pretty rough place so I'll try to keep my big mouth to myself for a change. The plan is to check out a few sites including a couple of castles and on the way back we'll be driving through Bath and dropping by Stonehenge so I'll have plenty more stories and pictures for you by then.
Please keep in touch and thank you to everyone who's sent their thoughts, love and insults... any attention is good attention as I always say.
Catch you round indians and chiefs!

P.S. Grandma, thank you so much for the lovely hand written letter. It made my day. I'll call you soon, I promise!
