Hey guys! About time to update this old thing, isn't it?!
I've spent the past few days up in Cairns with my Mami (who's been visiting me since last Friday - yay!). Together we have done some of the things I've always dreamed off when I came to Australia.
It was absolutely unbelievable to be at the Great Barrier Reef. We went with a company called Quicksilver and a catamaran called Silver swift. I would def recommend them to anyone thinking of going up diving/snorkeling. The pro-divers onboard were really helpful and made the whole day into a very fun experience!
We rented a underwater camera before heading out and I'm so happy we did! I took sooo many pictures under water but unfortunately you'll have to wait to see those until we have a working Internet at home!
One thing I have to say about Cairns is that it's 100% true they are the best when it comes to hospitality! At least when it comes to tours and that sort of things - maybe not in the restaurants..!
Yesterday we spent the day up in the rainforest going on the Kuranda rail way through the forest and mountains to the Kuranda village with its little shops and art galleries only to sky rail back to ground level later in the afternoon to enjoy some ancient aborigine tribal shenanigans. Very touristy. I liked hearing about their culture and history but we felt like real tourists as we were grouped with most of the stereotypical tourist types throughout the afternoon. Me no like. But I guess it's an experience.
When it comes to Cairns as a city it's very small. Def smaller than I thought it would be. Have to say I wasn't really impressed with the city, so I'm glad we were making these day trips to occupy ourselves. But because of its location with the Great Barrier Reef right next door as well as the rainforest of Kuranda it's somewhere you'll end up seeing anyways on your travels.
So that's it from Cairns! Coming up is a little recap of Sydney and Blue mountains!
And again - will do my best to get some photos up soon!!
Muah!
