Well, Off Exploring is failing me dismally! Third time lucky with this entry I hope. On Monday (1st July), Richard and I left Madrid for Granada. My last blog I think showed a photo of the cathedral in Granada. On Tuesday morning we headed out like mountain goats to get to the Alhambra, roughly 2klms completely uphill. Once we caught our breath, we were treated to the most amazing display of Moorish architecture in the Nasrid palace and other areas, and the beautiful Generalife gardens. We caught a bus to Seville yesterday afternoon and after checking to our accommodation, found a nice place to eat followed by Flamenco Ole! Beautiful costumes, and Bizet's Carmen performed as it should be. Thanks for the suggestion Jim. This morning we visited the Plaza de Toro (bullring)! It is still in use today and they still kill the bull (it is immediately butchered for food), I thought they abolished that years before. Anyway, somehow it does seem a lot more humane that what it was back then (que???) We also visited the Seville Cathedral which is the fourth largest in the world and contains among others, the tomb of Christopher Columbus. And another climb upward, this time the Giraldo bell tower which is part of the cathedral. Lovely views over Seville though. We also visited the Real Alcazar which again is a palace steeped in Moorish architecture and beautiful gardens, but is also the oldest royal palace still in use. The attached photo is taken inside the Alhambra and is the dome of one of the palaces. Now in Barcelona for a few days rest! Stay safe everyone, XXX
