We went again on the bustour around theron attractions
It is a hop on hop off and we do it for second time
I have never seen so many tourists in my life the streets are full the sites are packed with hundreds and hundreds of sight seekers just as eager as we to see the beautiful sculptures at fountains and the Majestic buildings
That was we expected in numbers for our world cup as we saw Monday morning out of season
The lines to get in into the st Peters cathedral was 2 km long worse than any Currie cup final on Loftus. And that is only for access to the Church
The rest like the arts galleries are on reserve seats only. You apply before hand and there are lines and lines of people just to book
Any case the tour was impressive and I met some Polish tourists who have been to South Africa and she comments on the necessity for us South Africans to hey the crime sorted out
Around Rome hotspots are Police deployed looking very nice in their Carabiniere Uniforms- we encountered no visible presence of Roman people or Gypsies gaming around these tourist jewels
Touch wood we have not been victims of pick pockets
All in all Rome is a must for all the art but the city is not clean
Trains underground and above ground are in bad shape
Heavy vandalized and full of graffiti on all buildings around rail-tracks as well as railcars
Any way bus transport
Is hoops and clean and modern and timely
Food was a disappointment in away of
Rip off in or near tourist hot spot and really not up to standard. Taste wise very blunt we never tasted any garlic in any pasta or pizza
We opted to eat at a Monastery across the road where hundreds of
Pilgrims sleep over and there the food was reasonable priced. 16 euro for
A meal consisting of pasta ; main ; salad and fruit or cheese
Included is a bottle of water and bottle of red wine
Any case we are reluctant city dwellers and we opted out to go and explore the country side again in Spain
Good bye
Yster
