We woke up with a big surprise here in the mountains of Switzerland -- it is snowing here in the Andermatt town. We were thinking of taking a bus over the pass but with snow it was closed yesterday and will be now as well
Never-mind we are on our way to Milaan and then West.
We boarded the Bus a local service over Gothard pass down to Airelo
Die pass is van die sneeu en voor ons ry so sneeu plow to clear the road. On top I thought it was our destination Airelo -- the place is snowed in snow more than 500mm thick and cold yu can not believe. Luckily it was a bus stop to pick up more Pax.
On our exit of this windswept frosted Mountain top we encounter awhile family on bikes Pappie - Mammie - Boetie 11, en Ouma. All pedal up into the snow and they look very happy. All are clothed in the latest Alpine gear where wind and water stay out forever
It made such a impression on us these Swiss they love mountain walking, climbing, ski, and such healthy sports.
It is such a pity in Good old SA that crime prevent us so much joy.
Any case we are down into Airelo and on the train down to Belaenzona then Milan
Landscape change immediate instead of having gentle grass slopes on the mountains we have thick bushes and much hotter climate and no Swiss look anymore. Signature of the warmer Italian are the lovely vineyards - such small little size of a double garage
Public buildings Stations are not so neat and smart as North.
Trains are comfortable neat and a Restaurant car but as you know we can only afford one coffee to share - we get used to that missing Good Old SA (gosa)
Arrived in one piece in Milan what a huge station with such lovely Marble
