From Hanoi we also did a trip to Sa Pa in the far Northern mountain region of Vietnam. We actually stayed in an Eco Lodge about 40 minutes from the town which was amazing. We had our own little bungalow with a balcony, the views were stunning and it was the quietest place we have ever been, it was weird after being in towns and cities for so long. In the afternoon we decided to go on a guided tour to one of the local villages where the hill tribes live. As we seemed to be the only people staying at the complex it was a pretty small tour group...2!!!!! It was pretty tough, we trekked through a valley to reach the little town of Thanh Kim. Our guide who was lovely, managed to get us into one of the locals houses which was nothing more than a cow shed but she seemed really proud to show us round bless her. He also managed to get us a tour round the local school, the deputy head teacher took us into the class rooms and the staff room, it was really cool, we weren't allowed to take pictures though. We both loved the walk but our legs were killing the next day!!!
We wish we had longer than one night to stay as it was so relaxing and peaceful. But we didn't so the next day we went back up to Sa Pa for a few hours before going back to Hanoi. We met some girls who were trying to sell us things but then became our friends! One was called Zen and one was called Lan, I have put their picture on here, they were so nice. It's so funny because the people just follow you around trying to get you to buy things, its so hard to say no sometimes, we did actually end up leaving with no money and lots of souvenirs!!!!! One woman was pretty scary though, she followed us for ages which was freaking us out a bit but she wasn't doing any harm, that was until she started to feel the back of my legs and tell me I was beautiful...EEEKS!! We did a little jog away from that one, lost her in the market!!!
I hope you all enjoy looking at the photos because they took frikken ages to upload!!!!!
Bye! X
