After flying back to the East Coast from Melbourne, we arrived in Airlie Beach to pouring down rain and a forecast of high winds for the next few days. This was a bit scary given the fact that we were due to be sailing around the Whitsundays for the next few days! We had booked onto a catamaran because they are better for sea sickness, but after seeing how choppy it looked at sea I was quickly popping the sea sickness pills!! We didn't do much on our first day, the boat left late and then it was far too windy to do any snorkelling so we visited a small cave on one of the islands before having dinner on the boat. We decided to upgrade to a private room on the boat and then ended up getting it for free because they forgot to ask us for the money before we left, hee hee!! The journey out to where we were staying the night was pretty scary, we were going over some pretty high waves! The next day two days we spent snorkelling in two different areas of the Barrier Reef marine park which was good. It was pretty choppy when we were snorkelling which made it a little hard sometimes but we saw some nice fish. The coral was nice here but not spectacular, not as colourful as we thought it would be. Because of the weather we didn't even get to visit Whitehaven beach which was one of the main reasons for doing the trip so we were a bit disappointed about that. After a pretty scary trip back we arrived back in Airlie Beach to await our 10 hour overnight trip up to Cairns!
