Well it hasn't been a very eventful week so far with my purse being stolen and being a bit ill, have't really had the money or envergy to do much, but it has been a bit tiring.
I've been living on 10 yuan a day (£1) this week so it's only been enough really to get a bit of tea. We get paid on the 10th though so hopefully then we can go and do more stuff.
We had a bit of nightmare with the kindergarten on wednesday as well. It's usually me and sarah who go on Wed, but this week Emma covered for sarah. We got up at 6 as usual and by the time we'd made the miles trek that it is to the school and then the bus stop it was 7.55am which is usually plenty of time to get the bus to kindergarten. However, that day the bus didnt turn up and we arived 15 mins late. As soon as we walked in the doors a woman strode up to us and shouted at us for being late and told us that we must get up earlier next week. Emma's face was like thunder but before she had time to say anything I'd launched into a rant basically saying how dare they talk to us like that, we can't get here any earlier when it's not our fault if a bus is late and getting up earlier than 6 to get somewhere for 8.30 is ridiculous. We then had nearly 3 hours of hell trying to teach the kids, particularly as the woman who had shouted was my escort around the school for the morning and proceeded to tell me that my lessons were boring and rubbish and that she was going to prepare my lessons for me next week but is not an EFL teacher and doesn't know what she's doing any more than I did. Also, bearing in mind the lessons are 10 mins long and we repeat them over 12 times there's not a lot you can do with 3 year olds in that time. She also had the audacity to tell me that I was saying 'meas' not 'meat' in the lessons and i was saying it wrong.I was furious at this point and as soon as we finished and got back to IH me and Emma took it Joaquin and complained.
Thankfully, he completely understood and took it to the boss where he told him that we are not qualified to teach these kids, and are doing it only as a favour and so could refuse to go anymore at any point if the teachers keep interfering and treating us like cheap teachers again. We've now been told that the school are advertising for properly qualified young learner teachers and I hope to god they get here before our contract ends.
Hopefully now it has been made aware in the higher ranks of the school though, we wont get the same problems again.
Anyway! The weather's been glorious so it hasnt all been bad and it's been nice to be able to walk around and to school without putting on about 5 layers. There's a lovely park around 40 mins away from our flat that we walked to on tuesday. There's a huge food market just opposite it too, so we wandered around until we found a nice place to get fried noodles (not like the ones we get in england but really spicy and loads of veg in as well) and then took them to park to eat them by the lake in the sun.
Other than that I've been applying for a lot of jobs this week. Also, apparently the transfer list for international house comes out soon for which we are eligible even though we're only classed as interns, so that you can transfer to a job or a country you want where there is a vacancy without having to apply like everyone else.
Other than that, there's not much else to report at the moment and i'll update again soon when something interesting actually happens other than nightmare kids!
