Well here i am again. I thought i'd blog tonight while ive got some time before we go to see the terracotta warriors tomoz :D.
We've had a pretty good day today again :). Chinese was a good laugh today with one of our teachers teachin us a famous chinese song, which we then had to sing along with. Sh turned it into a bit of musical chairs and everytime she stopped the cd the person she pointed to had to sing the nest line, so that was a bit embarrassin and i copped out and jsut spoke it haha. Altogether though it was fun :).
Well, it's 9 here and we've just got back from exploring the the city centre a bit more. We tried yet again today (havin failed on wednesday) to hire bikes from the south gate of the city centre wall to cycle around the perimeter- about 6 miles. However, as we had chinese from 1-3pm we didnt get home till about 3.45 and by the time we got into the city centre it was too late to hire bikes. Sooooooo, thats lookin like a monday mornin job now.
Anyway, as we'd paid a taxi to get us into the city centre we couldnt waste it, and so decided to walk around the muslim quarter. It was really nice, there's so many little trinkets, tea shops and food stalls. We stopped by one tea shop where we had the boss makin us tea in the proper chinese way with little tea sets. One called woolong was espesh nice and the girls decided to buy some that apparently helps girls slim.
We left there and as it started to get dark, really started gettin into the heart of the district. There were loads of people crowdin in the little narrow streets and motorbikes tryin get past everywhere- it was a bit crazy. We also saw a few groups of other westerners, which was weird! Havent seen anyone other than at the school for a long time!
We walked around the district tryin different food. I had a little fried pancake thing for 1 yuan which was really nice to start. We also bought a little cake that has two sponge layers, a layer of dates in the middle and sesame seeds sprinkled on top which is deeelicious. The best was to come though when we walked further and found a little stall crackin quail eggs into a hot plate then skewering them so it made a little egg kebab. The woman then spread a mild chilli sauce onto it and you could walk around and eat it. It was absolutely gorgeous so we went back for another one :P.
Lookin forward to the terracotta warriors tomorrow if we can get ourselves sorted so i will blog again over the weekend to tell you more about that n hopefully get some photos up next week :)
more soon
