We arrived early morning after a really bad bus trip as both of us did not sleep much at all. The bus was 14hrs and costs about $70 USD we probably should have looked at flights but didn't think of that until about 4am in the morning trying to get to sleep.
We checked into Supernova Hostel which was right in the middle of the city and it was pretty cheap about $35USD for a double room. Later that day we just chilled out around town and the hostel as we knew we had 2 full on days coming up. At night we had heard about Itaipu Dam which is located on the border of Brazil and Paraguay (which was only about 1 hour bus trip away) so we went out there and they had a light show on the falls. It was amazing as amazing a dam can get. It produces 4 mega watts for power constantly which is enough power to power 90% of Paraguay and 20% of Brazil.
Iguazu Falls is the 2nd largest waterfall based on the average annual water flow in the world, there are between 150 - 300 separate waterfalls that make up Iguazu. As it's on the border of Brazil and Argentina they have both built viewing platforms which you can go and have a look at.
The next day we caught the bus out to the Brazilian side but before entering the falls there was a bird park so we visited that for a few hours and it was so amazing. There were really friendly snakes, macaw's and toucan's not to sure if Christine or Kath would have enjoyed it though. There was also a Avery with hummingbirds and butterflies in it which was really cool to see. We then entered the falls and saw it from every possible angle. It was truly amazing.
The next day we had organised a tour to see the Argentinean side. While we were at the falls we decided to take the boat that went under one of the waterfalls so we got totally saturated which wasn't such a bad thing as it was so hot. I know this is a short blog but words really can't explain how amazing it was. Hopefully the pictures can do it some justice.
