Was woken up by some commotion outside the room last night. Apparently, there were some creatures outside. (yesterday was a "happening" day at the bunks, seemed to have quite a number of people. Among them, I met a Taiwanese at the shower room and got to know that she is travelling around after a working holiday in Australia.)
And in the middle of the night, I desperately needed to pee! Knowing there might be some creatures lurking outside, I scanned around outside before making way to the shared bathroom. On the way back, I was somehow "tailed" by a wombat! I didnt realized until I got to my room.
Somehow I knew I have to get into the room quickly. I was in such a hurry that I got into the room without pulling out my keys. And peeping through the window, I realized the wombat was coming towards my door! I watched it came scratching my door, and left. Then was I able to open the door and pull out my key! Some adventure in the middle of the night.
This morning woke up to pack and check out room by 9am. I think my brain must be going coconut.
Here's the story...
I bought two day passes for the National Park at Hobart Visitor Center last week. It costed me $12 per day. The passes came in the form of those "scratch-and-win" cards, where you have to scratch the date and time to start. So when I came here on Wednesday, I showed to the lady at the park entrance. She scratched 14 Dec 1pm and 15 Dec 8am on the two cards separately. And cuckoo me thought- well, the passes are DAY passes, maybe that's why. And that's why I thought my visit will finish yesterday. Two DAYs, as in two DAYTIME!
Till this morning, I was looking at the day pass cards again. Then I realized it's a 24-hour pass!! Meaning, my second card should be "scratched" at 1pm on 15 Dec and would have lasted me till today 1259pm!
So after knowing this at 1030am today,I went to the visitor centre again. (All this while I was lazing around in the cafe next to it cos the bus only leaving at 2.30pm). Another lady told me that no... These card passes aren't valid for Cradle Mountain. She asked if I had purchased Cradle Mountain passes separately! I lied- and said yes and scurried away! The Cradle Mountain passes each day costs $16.50 and an unlimited pass for two months cost $30. At first, I thought wow, I had a good deal! Hahha!!
Back to sitting at the cafe.
So...now... Who exactly is right? Who had got the information wrong?
The guy at Hobart Visitor Centre? The lady who served me on Wednesday and scratched the cards? Or the lady who told me that the cards aren't valid for Cradle Mountain?
Or it's me?
Anyway, I had just whilst my time away for 4 hours in the cafe. Sigh..
Took a bus (mcDermontt) back to Launceston at 2.30pm. On the way back, we stopped by Angrove Cheese Farm. I'm not a cheese person so didn't get any.
On the bus, I got to know this German lady, Angelica. She is on a 5-month trip in Aussie and NZ! Wow!! She is also travelling alone and will be doing some working holiday during this time.
Hmmm... I'm so tempted to do something like that too! Dunno if I'm "overaged" cos it seems that the max age is 30! Argghh!
Let me find out when I return!
After "landing" in Launceston back to Hotel Tasmania, I went out to the streets again. Taking photos and looking around. Chanced upon a high school prom night. It's definitely an eye opener! The girls were dressed Machiam their own wedding, and they rented cars (antique cars, sports cars, limousine etc) to take them to the hotel entrance. Like a red carpet event! Those with dates went with their bf/gf, some went in a group of friends! Whistle! And there are fans clapping and shouting their names ! Some parents stood around, taking photos. Brings me back to my jc prom night and the do-not-mention dress-up and make-up. Hahahah! Anyway, I can't really remember what exactly happened at the prom at my time. Too long ago...
At 7 plus, I "landed" back to hotel. Going round in the city and found myself back at my hotel. Decided to go back to the pub to have my dinner. A happening place to be. Some kids are having their gathering here it seems. I wonder if they are allowed to buy alcohol! They look like barely 15 years old, and dressed for chionging! Ahhh... Kids nowadays!
