Hello from Barcelona. Loving this colorful city with its mix of grand old buildings and modernistic architecture. Yesterday visited the Joan Miro Fundacio which houses a huge collection of his work. Then after a tapas lunch in Barric Gotic we stood for hours in a queue to go into Sagrada Familia, Gaudi's cathedral which was started in the 1880's and is hoped will be completed by 2030. It was well worth the wait - the interior is inspirational, a wonder of beauty. Outside again to the aftermath of a thunderstorm, heavy rain, but had come prepared so didn't get too wet. Had a light supper of more tapas then went to a 9.30 pm flamenco performance at the gorgeous Palau de la Musica. Entitled Mario de la O, this told the story of a classic love triangle - rich man, village boy, village girl - with much percussive passion and dramatic song. The audience went wild, hats in the air, wouldn't stop clapping.
Today the sun has come out and we're planning a walk along the Rambla, the famous pedestrian boulevard of museums, opera house and theatres, shops and markets that stretches all the way down to the port.
Adios from us both.
